In our daily life being assisted in repetitive tasks is a still long term view. While in the industry sector it is not the same and robots already collaborate with men!
Indeed, why impose on the man difficult tasks while a robot could take care of it? Uncomfortable posture, repetition of actions, risks of insecurity … some positions in the industry are particularly exposed to accidents. One of the possible solutions may be cobotic.
But concretely, what is cobotics?
Born from the contraction of “cooperation” and “robotics”, it corresponds to the collaboration between a man and a robot. This results in a direct or remote interaction between an operator and a robotic system. There are several types of cobots and their principle is to associate the capabilities of a robot (strength, repetition …) with that of a human being (know-how, analysis, decision …).
Its implementation will help to enhance the human by eliminating repetitive tasks. In particular, this improves working conditions by preventing musculoskeletal disorders, one of the leading causes of occupational disease.
Cobotics also aims to improve human productivity so that it can concentrate on higher value-added tasks.
At Chemineau, why and how did we opt for cobotics?
Sabrina Joubert, Industrial Project Manager, gives us feedback on the integration of cobotics into the production lines of our pharmaceutical company.
“We launched the project in 2018 on pilot lines to modernize. In the first half of 2019, we installed 2 cobots at Chemineau. The first was installed in January 2019 on a first line in order to gain ergonomics.
With a goal of continuous improvement, we had already implemented modernization projects on the line with the replacement of the cartooning machine to allow more flexibility on packaging and the implementation of automatic palleting.
The second was deployed during May on a second liquid line following theserialization implementation. This has notably allowed a gain of space.
Today, we are satisfied with the implementation of these 2 cobots because this will allow us to save time, to avoid repetitive human manipulations and to prevent ergonomic problems related to palletizing.
Our employees can focus on gestures involving know-how and technical skills. “
